In addition to going through a stringent application process to determine the qualifications of each staff member, we also look to see that each applicant is an innate caregiver, that they are able to empathize, pay attention to subtle signs and resident cues and easily connects with residents in times of stress and joy. Position: Personal Care Provider
Duties: Provide all aspects of personal care for residents including: meal preparation, laundry, housekeeping, medication administration, assistance with dressing, bathing and personal hygiene; provide companionship; keep detailed records and logs of your duties and the issues that arise during your shift; attend regular staff meetings which may be outside of your shift.
Environment: HCL currently cares for three residents in a private residence. After a training period, you will be the only caregiver for most of your shift. You will have full responsibility for fulfilling a daily schedule of care for the residents and home. The HCL home functions as a family. Staff collaborate on solutions to the challenges of operating the home in a manner that is safe and in compliance with the norms of operating care facilities.
Qualifications: All members of our staff must be attentive, responsible, and able to function independently as well as part of the staff team. You must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English. You must have patience when working with residents who have language difficulties, dementia, or other communication barriers. You must be able to stand in your own power with confidence in difficult circumstances while maintaining a cheerful and caring disposition. If you do not have formal training in first aid, medication administration, or personal care, you must be enthusiastic to obtain such training.
Shifts: Currently shifts are available for weekends and weekdays, 6:00 am to 2:00 pm as well as opportunities to cover for weekday and night shifts as needed.
